Chase Kreger
Chase Kreger’s training in Tae Kwon Do began at age 7. In 1986, at age 13, he earned his Black Belt under Grandmaster Roy Kurban, who also happens to be Chase’s step-father. Grandmaster Kurban and Chase’s mother founded The American Black Belt Academy, in Arlington, TX in 1973 and created one the first children’s programs in the nation, which was recognized in a 1987 Parenting Magazine article. With numerous tournament wins from various competitions throughout the U.S., Chase is a member of The World Taekwondo Federation, and was awarded Outstanding Young Competitor by the Traditional Karate League.
Having literally grown up in a karate school, Chase has a unique perspective when working with kids. He has crafted a teaching style that uses many coordination games, making the lessons as fun as possible, while still maintaining necessary structure and discipline throughout the class. In Arlington, he developed a successful after-school outreach program for children, where he would travel to private schools, recreation centers, and day cares to conduct classes.
Martial arts training for kids has shown to improve discipline, concentration, and respect. Watching a child’s self-confidence and coordination grow into self-mastery is a true joy for Chase. He currently instructs childrens’ classes at Abercorn International School and with Lupine Lane, in the Lakeway community; and teach and train under Master Jennifer Branch at The Austin Black Belt Academy.
