Christine Gordon

Hello All! My name is Christine Gordon. I was born and raised on Long Island, New York. I have family here in Austin and had visited this wonderful area several times before getting the opportunity to move here in 2017.

I graduated from Adelphi University in New York with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government. I continued on with my education and received my MBA from Adelphi with a concentration in Human Resource Management and Services. Soon after earning my degrees, I started my career working for New York State in the Finance Department.

A few years later, the first of my 3 daughters was born. I stayed at home to raise her and then welcomed my 2nd and 3rd daughters to our family. It was during this time that I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to rekindle one of my passions. I had always been a dancer all my life and was fortunate enough to be asked to share my skills and teach at a competitive dance studio on Long Island. While I instructed all ages, my primary focus and commitment was with our youngest students aged 2-7. I took an active role in creating the dance program our studio followed for these young dancers and took great pride in the outcome and growth they showed at the end of each year. The connection I had with these young students, the love I had for sharing dance with them and the encouragement and positive feedback I received from their parents prompted me to pursue a career in early childhood education.

I began working as a teacher’s aide in the school district my children attended. What started as a part-time position quickly became a full-time career that I love. As an aide in the Commack School District, I was lucky enough to again work with the youngest of our students. My time was spent with grades K-2 in several of our schools, assisting in multiple classrooms. It was very difficult for me to leave when I moved to Austin, but I was so fortunate to find a place with the Lake Travis School District at Lake Pointe Elementary School. I have spent the last two years as an aide at Lake Pointe primarily working with students in the Pre-K and PPCD programs. The lessons I have learned there are invaluable, and I will always be grateful to the students, their families and the staff for welcoming me and making me feel part of the Lake Travis Community.

I spend most of my free time these days actively involved with my youngest daughter and her busy schedule. As I said, I’ve always been involved with dance, and lucky for me, all of my girls have been too. It has certainly kept me busy! They all danced competitively and for their high school teams as well. My oldest daughter graduated from Georgia Tech and lives and works in Atlanta. My 2nd oldest daughter graduated from Texas Tech in May 2019 and is living and working in Dallas. My youngest daughter is now a junior at Lake Travis High School and is a proud member of the LT Cavalettes. You can always find me at our football games, dance contests or community events and enjoying every minute of it all!

I am so grateful to be joining the Lupine Lane Family and starting a new adventure at this wonderful school. I look forward to the upcoming school year!
