(7 to 14 years)
Teacher: Jessi Clayton
The gift of creating is a very powerful thing. Creating art of other people is extremely rewarding, especially art of a family member. In this class students will create a self-portrait as well as portraits of family members, using a different style with each portrait. Students will gain an understanding of various portrait perspectives as well as different medium. In the first class, students will learn about proportion through creating front view graphite drawing. The second class will focus on the ¾ view of the face and use colored pencils to create a colorful portrait. The third class will utilize pastels to create a profile portrait. The final class will give the opportunity for children to use mixed media and choose which angle they favor. Each portrait will be a new person with a completely unique style.
