Exploring the Media Spectrum
(7 to 14 years)

This class is designed to introduce the beginner to the basics of the wide-ranging media used in drawing and painting. Students will gain a deep understanding of the progression of media as they use practical application on weekly themed projects. The media progression will unfold as follows: pencil, charcoal and pastel drawing; watercolor, gouache and acrylic painting. Color theory, composition, light and dark and texture will all be introduced and explored. Students will work from still life, self-portrait, landscape and other subjects to develop a personal style.
