Lupine Lane Lilliput Camps

Lupine Lane Lilliput Camps are for preschoolers (2.5 – 5 years).  We will explore diverse weekly theme using an integrated approach.  We will include art, cooking, music, science, literature and mathematics during each week.

Lupine Lane Genre Camps

Lupine Lane Genre Camps are for older children (6 – 11 years).  Children will have the opportunity to choose camps based on their specific interests.  Campers will delve into the subject with a highly qualified instructor over the week, gaining knowledge and skills that they will utilize during and after camp.

Hello!  It’s been such a long time since the last blog post, but better late than never!

October was full of fun!  Cooking was all about French food.  We made Quiche Lorraine, Chicken Cordon Bleu, Ratatouille and Boeuf Bourguignon and much more.  In art classes, we completed paper mache giraffes, and we focused on the fall, painting fall trees, creating ceramic pumpkins and much more.

In MDO, we focused on the farm, building our own farm and talking about different crops and how they grow.  We planted some of our own “crops” (beans and peas) and did a lot with sorting.  We finished up the month to Sweet Berry Farms, where we fed goats, went on a hay ride, found our way through the sorghum maze, raced for and painted pumpkins and then made our scarecrow, Aruro.  It was a blast!

November has been wonderful so far!  In cooking, we’re making American food, like Chili, Chicken Pot Pie and more!  In Art, we’re working projects dealing with appreciation and gratitude.  We’ll be starting our Trees of Gratitude this week.

This month in MDO, we are focusing on different animals on the farm.  We’ll be welcoming author/illustrator Ros Hill on the 11/11.  He will talk about his books, Shamoo:  A Whale of a Cow and Unexpected Tales as well as drawing techniques and his job as an author/illustrator.  Then, we’ll head to Novella’s Farm and Schoolhouse to milk cows, feed chickens and learn about bee habitats.  It’s sure to be a blast!

We’ve also starting composting.  The MDO kids are learning a great deal about this project, but we will be composting in all of our classes, since it is so wonderful for our Earth!

We are gearing up for an exciting Holiday Season!  Check out all of our Gingerbread Events! We have family events on Saturday Mornings (December 3 and 10) and Just Kids Bake and Build Events on Saturday Afternoons.  We also have events at Miss Julie’s and Abercorn.  Sign up by November 25!

Hello!  We will now be publishing a monthly (instead of weekly) blog.  We will include what is going on each month in classes and our Mother’s Day Out Program, as well as any special events!

Little Absolutely Art and Absolutely Art

We will be using Laurie Krebs’ children’s books about different places around the world to inspire our projects.  We will go to Mexico, Tanzania, Egypt, China, Brazil and Ecuador!

Fine Art Club

Miss Rebecca will introduce the artistic movements and artists that the kids will focus on for the first couple of weeks.  Kids will begin projects the first week.

Little Kinder Cooks, Cooking Around the World: Kinder Cooks and Young Chefs and The After School Supper Club

We will be making Indian Food, including Chicken Makhani, Matar Pulao, South Indian Shrimp Curry, Pork Vindaloo, Beef and Vegetable Samosas and more!

Fizzle, Bubble, Pop and Wow!

Miss Paula will go over basic science concepts during the first two classes this month by introducing children to exciting science experiments.

Gang Age Drawing

Miss Rebecca will present students with their sketch books and introduce foundational drawing principles in the first two classes this month.

Visual Story Telling

Miss Jessi will inspire the students to begin visualizing different story lines.  Students will begin to create images of their stories, which they will later compile into a storyboard and paint.

Tae Kwon Do

Mr. Chase will introduce some basic Tae Kwon Do concepts and movements during the first two classes.  The kids will also learn the Tae Kwon Do Tenants.

Mother’s Day Out

Our Mother’s Day Out Newsletter includes complete information.  We will be working from the “Who am I?” Unit of the International Preschool Curriculum.  The kids will gain an understanding of cultural and ethnic identity and learn to appreciate the characteristics of temselves and others.  Exercises will develop emotional skill and community cohesion.  Children will get to know their new friends as well as themselves through activities in this unit.  Literacy exercises will include name projects and an “All About Me!” book.  Mathematic concepts will be counting, establishing and extending patterns and collaborative graphing.  We will be cooking Indian food for Lunch!

Our Around the World Summer Camp was a huge success!  All of the campers were absolutely wonderful kids; they were all eager to learn, explore and create every day!  The kids learned about a different region every week, focusing on a different country everyday.  In the morning, we focused on Global Values such as peace, love, respect and responsibility.  To see the outline of what activities we did with the Global Values, click here!  The kids then went to Movement with Mr. Chase, where they learned awesome Yoga moves, Tae Kwon Do and played some fun games.  The afternoons were full of art projects and cooking.  The kids learned about artists from the countries we focused on, as well as different artistic movements and styles.  They made Sumi Ink Drawings, Japanese Pop Art Animals, Picasso Portraits, Illuminated Letters and so much more.  To see the entirety of the art projects, click here!  Then, in cooking, the kids cooked and tried food like Tanzanian Samosas, Chicken Makahni, Canadian Tourtiere and Egyptian Shwarma!  To see the entire cooking menu, click here!  Finally, to see an album with some of the pictures from camp, click here!  It really was a first year to remember!  The kids had a blast and so did we!  We are already planning for next year!

This Fall, we will begin offering a Mother’s Day Out Program on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30a to 1:30p. We are so excited for the orientation with parents and kids on September 1st and then to begin the program on September 7th!  It will surely be a year full of discovery, learning, creating and growth!  Our small class size is going to allow for a lot of one-on-one interaction.  I am absolutely over the moon to begin!

Our Fall Classes are also starting to take a permanent shape!  Since all of our instructors are in graduate school, figuring out an after school class schedule proved to be a juggling act!  We are almost there though!  Now, you can see our fall class listings by clicking here!

We will be offering our Mommy and Me Classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Little Absolutely Art will be from 11:00-11:45a and Little Kinder Cooks will be from 12:00pm-12:45pm.

We will also offer lots of After School Classes like Cooking Around the World: Kinder Cooks, Cooking Around the World: Young Chefs, Absolutely Art, Fine Art Club, Visual Storytelling, The After School Supper Club and more!

And, we will also offer Weekend Workshops such as Baking Around the World, Halloween Treats: A Candy Making Workshop, Studio Photography, Nature Photography and Gingerbread Workshops for the family and for just the kids!  All classes are open to Abercorn International Students as well as to the general public!  Take a look at our class listing page for all of the info in one spot!

This month, we’ve made beach umbrellas, beach bucket hats, Gifts of the Sea plaques, stained glass mirrors with beach glass and now, we’ll be making fish screen printed beach bags!

Little Kinder Cooks and Kinder Cooks
This month, we’ve made Coconut Shrimp with Rasta Pasta, Jerk Chicken and Vegetable Kabobs with Jamaican Rice and Peas, Panko Breaded Flounder with Garlic and Herb Mashed Potatoes and, by the end of the week, we’ll finish up with Cuban Steak and Pineapple Rice!

The Summertime Supper Club

This month, we’ve made Coconut Shrimp with Rasta Pasta and Coconut Totos for dessert, Jerk Chicken and Vegetable Kabobs with Jamaican Rice and Peas with Coconut Flan for dessert, Panko Breaded Flounder and Mango Salsa with Garlic and Herb Mashed Potatoes with Key Lime Pie for dessert and, by the end of the week, we’ll finish up with Cuban Steak and Pineapple Rice with Banana Empanadas for dessert!
