It’s finally here! The final pieces of the puzzle have come together and we are now preparing for the groundbreaking of our new building in Rough Hollow on May 31^st, 2013! As we are wrapping up a year that has been so incredibly full of learning, laughter, and Lupine love, we are so fortunate to be looking ahead to an incredibly exciting future.

In celebration of our first year as a full preschool, our first graduating class, and our first permanent location, we are hosting a party for our supportive community, without which none of this would have been possible.

Please join us on Friday, May 31^st, at 5:30 to be a part of our groundbreaking ceremony. With golden shovels our teachers will make the first holes in which the children will be able to plant the fruit trees that they have been nurturing at the Lupine Lane Cottage in preparation for the day that we would finally have our permanent home. The children will all be given their own small shovels and pink and yellow hard hats so that each and every one will have a hand in this occasion that we’ve been looking forward to all year.

At 6:00 the fun really begins! Tiny Tails to You! will arrive with their traveling petting zoo, the splash pad will be turned on, and the bouncy houses will be inflated! Head inside for some shade and grab refreshments and snacks while your children get their Lupine Lane glitter tattoos and make a spin art creation.

We are so thrilled to have so many wonderfully supportive families with us and we cannot wait to share this exciting time with you!

Our Lilliput Camps are for 2.5 to 5 year old children and run Monday through Friday from 9a to 2p, with After Care available until 4p each day.

The diverse, thematic Lilliput Camps allow young people to thrive in a safe and loving environment. Teachers strive to ensure that each child understands that he or she is important, strong, intelligent and valued. Our priority is that children feel comfortable in the classroom as they learn, create and grow as an individual. We maintain low student/teacher ratios to allow ample interaction with each unique child. We utilize an integrated, emergent approach, where teachers serve as guides for the children. Our themes are rich and open ended, allowing children to explore and expand their thoughts and ideas as they process lessons, classroom materials and activities. Through every week, the children will create and develop a multidimensional project based on the current theme, which we will celebrate on Fridays. Each day will be an exploration of the theme through art, science, math, reading, group and individual time and, of course and perhaps most vitally, play!

Please pack a lunch and snack each day for your Lilliput camper.  A water bottle, t-shirt and hat are included in each required Camper Kit. A one time Camper Kit Fee is charged for each camper, each summer.

Our Genre Camps are for 6 to 11 year old children and run Monday through Friday from 9a to 2p. The focused, subject-oriented camps allow older children to focus on their primary interests. Children will have an entire week to fully explore a specific subject that intrigues them. Camp guides are experts in their field, allowing for in depth discussions of the area and a focus on developing proficient skills that children will be able to expand on and utilize after camp.

As with the Lilliput Camps, please pack a lunch and snack each day for your Genre camper. A water bottle, t-shirt and hat are included in each required Camper Kit. A one time Camper Kit Fee is charged for each camper, each summer.

To ensure enrollment, please register early, as each camp will fill up. Lilliput Camp Enrollment and Genre Camp Enrollment are available now! On March 8th, both Lilliput and Genre Camps enrollment will increase by $50. To maintain quality and consistency, there are no refunds, make ups or transfers for camps.

We are looking forward to a fun-filled summer full of creativity, learning and lots of fun!

These classes will be extremely fun for the kids while providing them with skills that will continue to benefit them for years to come. Some of our classes are offering free trials within the next few weeks and we encourage everyone to come try out a class! This is a good way to figure out timing and assess whether or not your child can handle the extended day or if the pick up time will work with your other child’s schedules.

This week we are featuring the following classes with trials: 

Yoga: This is an activity that increases physical stamina and strength while also improving the mind. Yoga is proven to increase concentration and generate a more positive attitude while sharpening skills such as balance. To find out more about our yoga teacher, read about Mr. Chase on our website, or ask any child who has taken a class with him before… they all love him! He will be coming in during school hours to do a trial demonstration with the kids.

Tae Kwon Do: This class has been a favorite for our students since last semester. This is a sport that incorporates elements of a culture very different from ours and teaches the importance of self-discipline and self-control. The children learn skills that will increase their physical and mental abilities and thus lead to higher self-esteem. Mr. Chase also teaches this class and he will be coming in during school hours to do a trial demonstration with the kids.

Ballerina Beauties: Dance is another opportunity for children to develop their ability to concentrate, relieve stress, and build self-esteem. In addition to becoming more confident overall, they will increase their flexibility and improve posture while strengthening their muscles. This class is through Put Art In Your Heart, a local dance studio that has already made a big impression on our community! We are so exciting to be working with them. Their free trial will be offered on Wednesday, January 16 at 2:30 pm. Please email info@lupinelane.com to register your child for the trial class.

My Time: Preschool Tumbling and Movement: Gymnastics offers yet another opportunity for students to develop their coordination, balance, strength and endurance. Working with Ms. Lorie, a former collegiate gymnast and teacher at Lupine Lane, the children will learn just how fun exercise can be and they’ll be begging to come back to Ms. Lorie’s class. Her free trial will be offered on Tuesday, January 22 at 2:30 pm. Please email info@lupinelane.com to register your child for the trial class.

ABC Music and Me by Kindermusik: Introducing children to music at an early age has been linked to improved literacy, math, and social-emotional development. Kindermusik is well aware of these benefits and structures their classes in a way that is fun while offering an incredible learning experience to children. Lupine Lane Lilliput Camps

Lupine Lane Lilliput Camps are for preschoolers (2.5 – 5 years).  We will explore diverse weekly theme using an integrated approach.  We will include art, cooking, music, science, literature and mathematics during each week.

Lupine Lane Genre Camps

Lupine Lane Genre Camps are for older children (6 – 11 years).  Children will have the opportunity to choose camps based on their specific interests.  Campers will delve into the subject with a highly qualified instructor over the week, gaining knowledge and skills that they will utilize during and after camp.

Hello!  It’s been such a long time since the last blog post, but better late than never!

October was full of fun!  Cooking was all about French food.  We made Quiche Lorraine, Chicken Cordon Bleu, Ratatouille and Boeuf Bourguignon and much more.  In art classes, we completed paper mache giraffes, and we focused on the fall, painting fall trees, creating ceramic pumpkins and much more.

In MDO, we focused on the farm, building our own farm and talking about different crops and how they grow.  We planted some of our own “crops” (beans and peas) and did a lot with sorting.  We finished up the month to Sweet Berry Farms, where we fed goats, went on a hay ride, found our way through the sorghum maze, raced for and painted pumpkins and then made our scarecrow, Aruro.  It was a blast!

November has been wonderful so far!  In cooking, we’re making American food, like Chili, Chicken Pot Pie and more!  In Art, we’re working projects dealing with appreciation and gratitude.  We’ll be starting our Trees of Gratitude this week.

This month in MDO, we are focusing on different animals on the farm.  We’ll be welcoming author/illustrator Ros Hill on the 11/11.  He will talk about his books, Shamoo:  A Whale of a Cow and Unexpected Tales as well as drawing techniques and his job as an author/illustrator.  Then, we’ll head to Novella’s Farm and Schoolhouse to milk cows, feed chickens and learn about bee habitats.  It’s sure to be a blast!

We’ve also starting composting.  The MDO kids are learning a great deal about this project, but we will be composting in all of our classes, since it is so wonderful for our Earth!

We are gearing up for an exciting Holiday Season!  Check out all of our Gingerbread Events! We have family events on Saturday Mornings (December 3 and 10) and Just Kids Bake and Build Events on Saturday Afternoons.  We also have events at Miss Julie’s and Abercorn.  Sign up by November 25!
