Claudia M. Guerra was born and raised in Colombia, South America. She moved to Austin, Texas in 2017 and brought with her 15 years of experience in education.

She successfully completed her Bachelor’s Degree at Universidad Santiago de Cali as a Licensed Preschool Teacher with a Specialization in Infant Pedagogy. She is currently working on the last year of her Master’s in Education.

Throughout the years, she has had the opportunity to work with students ranging in age from infants to young adults. Additionally, she has worked in a wide array of classroom settings, from special to general education.

Along this important journey as a teacher, she has fully realized the impact educators have on children’s lives. She has seen, firsthand, how intentional guidance contributes tremendously to a child’s developmental process.

Claudia loves seeing the children she teaches learn. She recognizes the importance of instilling both cognitive and social-emotional learning opportunities into meaningful lessons and activities, as well as leading by example. In addition to the educational components of teaching, it is important to Claudia to bring families the peace of mind that their child is in a safe and loving environment.

Claudia recognizes the responsibilities and the joys of being a part of children’s lives during this special early childhood period. She absolutely loves the Ducklings’ classroom and Lupine Lane, and she is proud to be part of an amazing group of teachers. She is looking forward to a fantastic year!

In her leisure time, Claudia enjoys reading, writing, cooking, taking walks, volunteering at charity events and exploring all of the adventures Austin has to offer with her family.

Favorite Book as a Young Child

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is more than just my favorite childhood book; it is a lasting guide to life, entirely because of my elementary school teacher. While I originally saw a simple, whimsical adventure, she patiently helped our class uncover the story’s deeper meanings about love, patience, and genuine connection. Because of her gentle guidance, the Fox’s secret, “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye,” became a personal compass for me as I grew up. She did not just help me understand a beautiful story; she taught me to never lose my sense of wonder and to always navigate the world with an open heart.

Favorite Part of the Day in Preschool

My absolute favorite part of the day in preschool was always the moment the teachers pushed the little tables aside for dance class. As soon as the music started playing, the ordinary classroom transformed into a magical stage where we could be entirely free. I loved the feeling of twirling in circles until I was dizzy, lost in the rhythm and the pure joy of movement. It never mattered if we were following the steps perfectly; it was all about stomping our feet, waving our arms, and giggling with my friends. That dedicated time to just let go and dance made every single day feel like a celebration.
